The red drawbridge is the first big gate on the island, and the first time most groups learn that Big Walk is a logistics game wearing an adventure coat. The whole puzzle reduces to: four figures → one key → cut the key → walk it up the cliff.

Big Walk red barn room with chain-link fence puzzle

Before you start

  • You can see the bridge from the starting area — walk toward it and you'll find the crown structure (the key console) just before it.
  • Group size doesn't change the number of figures: it's four, always.
  • Tell your group the plan before collecting anything. Half the difficulty is three people carrying the same figure in different directions.

Step-by-step

  1. Find the crown structure

Look for the crown-shaped console with four empty slots, sitting just before the red bridge. This is your delivery point and the source of the key.

  2. Collect four red figures

Four puzzles sit around the area before the bridge, each rewarding one red figure when solved. The figures are large, unmistakably red, and portable — one person can carry one, but only one at a time.

  3. Slot all four figures

Place every figure into the crown structure. When all four are seated, the key drops to the ground at the base of the console.

  4. Shred the key

Pick up the key and take it to the shredder on the right. Inserting it produces the cut key — this is the piece that actually opens the bridge.

  5. Walk the red walkway

Carry the cut key up the red walkway along the cliff, following it to the far side by the bridge.

  6. Insert and lower

Place the cut key into the recess beside the bridge. The bridge lowers, and the rest of the island opens up.

What the four puzzles feel like

The four figures come from four distinct puzzles — expect a mix of environmental logic, object carrying, and one or two communication checks. Early community reports describe the set as the game's first real "tutorial for how this game thinks": each puzzle teaches one rule the later towers assume you know.

Playing together

The bridge is designed for coordination, and a little splitting makes it faster:

  • Duo: both players work the puzzles, then one carries the key while the other clears the walkway ahead.
  • Three or four: split into pairs and tackle two puzzles at once — just agree on a meeting point at the crown structure.
  • Keep one caller on the key-carrier the whole walk up the cliff; it's the most common place a run falls apart.

After the bridge

With the bridge down you reach the blue doorway — the Map Room — which stays locked until the red tower is complete. That's the next stop:

  1. Collect five red collectibles around the area.
  2. Fill the red tower to earn its key.
  3. Open the Map Room.

Frequently asked

Do we need all four players to lower the bridge?

No — the puzzles scale to your party, and a duo can do all four with some running. Larger groups usually split two-and-two for the puzzle pairs.

We placed the figures but nothing happened.

All four must be in the slots on the crown structure simultaneously, then the key drops at the base. Check for a figure left in someone's inventory or on the ground nearby.

The key won't fit the bridge.

You're likely holding the uncut key. Insert it into the shredder on the right side of the crown area first — the cut key fits the recess by the bridge.
